Vertical vs Horizontal-Axis Wind Turbines

How rotor format, wind resource and installation context shape turbine selection.

Vertical and horizontal-axis turbines solve different site problems. A horizontal-axis turbine can be suitable where tower height, wind direction and clear rotor area are available.

A vertical-axis turbine may be considered for compact or turbulent sites, but it still requires wind-resource review.

Selection should be based on measured or carefully assessed wind conditions, electrical load and installation constraints.
